Isaiah 65:20-24, Phil 3:13-14, Psalm 2:12, Psalm 34:8, Jeremiah 4:3

Men and brethren, God has sent a word to every member of this commission from Isaiah 65:20-24 “There shall be no more thence an infant of days, nor an old man that hath not filled his days: for the child shall die a hundred years old; but the sinner being a hundred years old shall be accursed. And they shall build houses, and inhabit them; and they shall plant vineyards, and eat the fruit of them. They shall not build, and another inhabit; they shall not plant, and another eat: for as the days of a tree are the days of my people, and mine elect shall long enjoy the work of their hands. They shall not labour in vain, nor bring forth for trouble; for they are the seed of the blessed of the Lord, and their offspring with them. And it shall come to pass, that before they call, I will answer; and while they are yet speaking, I will hear” May it be your portion. 

The year, 2021 shall become a year when many shall relocate to their Canaan from their Egypt- their land of yoke and bondage to the land flowing with milk and honey.

Friends, Obeying God in 2021 must be our priority and we must allow God to be in charge . This is a time where many make New Year resolutions and not keep it. Where can we place our trust and faith in the New Year? Certainly not in men nor in nations, as both will disappoint us. Certainly not in the economy, as it is in shambles as the corporate, national and personal debt is one we can never hope to repay. Certainly not in military might, as we are vulnerable to a defense that could lead to world annihilation. The only safe place to put our trust is in God. “Blessed are all those who put their trust in Him” (Psalm 2:12). “Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good; Blessed is the man who trusts in Him!” (Psalm 34:8). I also believe New Year’s resolutions are worth making for the following reasons:

Number One: New Year resolutions are change agent. There is great power in confession–to ourselves, to God, to others. Owning up to our failures is the first, painful step on the road to something better.

Number Two: The brink of a new year is a good time for reassessment. When we change calendars is a good time for reassessment. How did last year go? What do I want to do differently this year? This time of year reminds me of a passage of scripture “Break up your unplowed ground, and do not sow among thorns” (Jer 4:3). It makes sense. The more land you put into production, the more prosperous you’ll be. What percentage of your life is producing something of value to God? How much “unplowed ground” do you have that ought to be broken up in 2021 and made useful? Reassessment.

Number Three: New Year’s is an excellent time for mid-course corrections. Sure, we might fail in what we set out to do, but if we fail to plan, the old saw goes, then we plan to fail. If you’re so fearful of failure that you never set up your row of tin cans to shoot at, you’re not very likely to hit any at all. Failure is not the end. For the person who determines to learn from it, failure is a friend. Apostle Paul. Talk about failure! Throughout his life he was opposed, persecuted, shipwrecked, stoned and left for dead, deserted by trusted co-workers, slandered, and scorned. Sometimes it seemed that projects to which he had devoted years were turning to dust before his eyes. But during from one of his stints in prison, we can see from one of his letters an unwillingness to quit. “Forgetting what is behind,” he wrote, “and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus” (Phil 3:13-14, NIV) No wonder he made a mark on his world. He stopped looking back, and looked forward instead. He didn’t let the fear of failure keep him from trying again.

Number Four: New Year’s is a time to learn to rely more heavily on the grace of God. Now I’ve met a few self-made men and women and so have you, but so often these people seem proud and driven. There is another way: beginning to trust in God’s help. One more secret from the Apostle Paul: “I can do everything through Him who gives me strength,” he said (Phil 4:13, NIV). And God’s strength saw him through a lot–through pain, through joy, and through accomplishment. If in 2020, you didn’t practice relying on the Lord as much as you should have, there is no time like the present to make a New Year’s resolution for 2021. You may have lost face with the world because of your history but our God is a God of a second chance. This is a new beginning. He sent Jesus to bring total restoration of the God kind of Life to each and every one of us. Do not fear the challenges that you will meet in 2021 because challenges are new levels of victory and success. We also can use our challenges and become somebody. The obstacles the enemy places on our way can catapult us to our glorious destiny. Stand strong where you are today trusting God who can make all things beautiful. Do not allow others to define your idea of attractiveness nor allow them to control your self esteem because it is your breakthroughs bank account. May your understanding of the word of God in you attract divine attention and manifestation in Jesus name.

Put your trust in God! For where your treasure is, there you’ll find your heart. Put your trust in him! He won’t let you down. God is our hope, so put your life in his hands. May this be your resolution for the New Year.
