Todays teaching from Pastor Mrs Uma Ukpai
No matter where you are today, have this confidence that God brought you to the world for a purpose. You may need to turn to Him like Paul and He will set you on the right track. For years it appeared Joseph came to the world to be hated and mistreated by the very people he loved and served. His brothers sold him out of jealousy as he obeyed his Father and took food to them. Potiphar whose business prospered under Joseph, sent him to prison for a crime he did not commit. However God used all that Joseph suffered to take him to his place of destiny.
With all the material blessings of Job, he refuses to base his life’s confidence on the material things because he knew the materials things cannot grant him permanent security. He faced his future by having great confidence in God. “If I have made gold my hope, Or said to fine gold, ‘You are my confidence’ Job 31:24. Don’t weight your security against what you know or can do; weigh it against your willingness and capacity to learn. Today as you submit your life to God wholeheartedly you will fulfil the purpose for which you were created. Numbers 23:21 “He hath not beheld iniquity in Jacob, neither hath He seen perverseness in Israel”. I have always wondered why Numbers 23:21 says ‘He hath not beheld iniquity in Jacob, neither hath He seen perverseness in Israel’. By all standards Jacob was a cheat and a trickster. He played “419” on his brother Esau and taught his uncle Laban a lesson or two. Despite Laban’s age he could not outwit Jacob. The very name Jacob meant “a supplanter” but the bible says ‘the shout of the king is with Jacob, yes Israel because God has not seen perverseness in him’.
This is the greatest of all news. Jacob’s story confirms that when God forgives, He forgets. God so loves His own that no matter how hard the enemy Satan tries, he cannot reverse our salvation. He cannot snatch us out of God’s eternal arms. He cannot even separate us from God’s love nor put us into a position that is beyond God’s reach to care for us, protect us, provide for us, or deliver us. Once Jacob realized he could not make it on his own and fell back into God’s hands, God changed his destiny. He pleaded with God to deliver him from Esau’s anger. God honored his prayer. God forgave Jacob and did forget all the havoc Jacob had caused for Esau and Laban. God named him Israel, declaring ‘as a prince hast thou power with God and with men and hast prevailed’. God has promised to be our confidence. ’For the LORD will be your confidence, and will keep your foot from being caught’ Prov 3:26 and in Hebrews 3:14 ‘For we have become partakers of Christ if we hold the beginning of our confidence steadfast to the end. Also in Hebrews 10:35 ’Therefore do not cast away your confidence, which has great reward. Find the successes in every day and you’ll notice over time that they increase.
Above all, remember you are capable and worthy—just as much as anyone else, regardless of what you’ve achieved. Regardless of what mistakes you’ve made. Knowing that wisdom demands that you trust God implicitly and explicitly with strong believe in your heart, because believing it is the key to living it. And living it is the key to reaching your potential. This year is not yet over if you expect God to crown it with goodness, you must not follow your own whims and caprices. Allow the Spirit of God to lead and direct your steps. When Saul stopped ‘kicking against the goal’, his blindness, physically and spiritually was healed. His muddled ideas about God were cleared. Only then were his potentials meaningfully and gainfully employed. Such outstanding success can be yours if you stop struggling and yield completely to God, being sensitive to respond when He nudges your heart! Therefore, God is ready to change your social status but the choice is yours.
