Todays Teaching by Dr Uma Ukpai
And Saul said to David, “You are not able to go against this Philistine to fight with him; for you are a youth, and he a man of war from his youth – 1 Sam 17:33. He told David, boy you are not experienced in this kind of war. You have not been taught the mechanics and the dynamics of war. You are not educated enough to face this kind of life challenges. You are not tutored enough to stand with this great mountain and win. He reminded David of his human weakness. He reminded David that this problem is not his problem to solve but for others who are not born. He reminded David of the weakness of his fathers’ house.
Right where you are, someone may have spoken against your promotion; a witch may have submitted your name to be constantly attacked; even your friends may have concluded that you are no good in business; the doctor may have issue a declaration that you can no longer conceive; you may have hired a lawyer by spoken words due to the number of years you have been married without a child that the battle is over for you; You may have lost the capacity for wonderment. Men and Brethren, experience is not a great teacher but wisdom. Why? wisdom is learning from the mistakes of others, while experience is learning from your own mistakes; you cant live long enough to make all the mistakes there are but you can learn from those who have made mistakes and copy from them and use their lives to climb out of the pit where there is no water or ladder.
David reminded Saul on how to be grateful to God for the miracles God had wrought in his life in the previous encounter with dangers, he simply told Saul the importance of thanking and appreciating God in the little things and the big things that God did with protecting his sheep. He reminded Saul of the importance of giving testimony to God because he knew that every test is an announcer to a coming testimony. If God can fight for him and give him strength to withstand the lion and bear when they came against him, then wisdom demands that, the same God is more than enough to tackle and defeat this uncircumcised philistine.
Throughout the days of David, he knew that you cannot fight any battle on your own. He knew that when God is left behind, he was surely going to loose. 1 Sam 17: 34-37. David knew that when heaven is involved, his trouble will be in trouble because God will trouble is trouble. No wonder the Psalmist concluded that when the Lord turned the captivity of Zion, they were like them that dream and their mouth was filled with laughter, and their tongue with singing: then they said among the heathen, the Lord hath done great things for them Psalm 126.
I have come so that your lamentation will become laughter; your disgrace will become grace; your disappointment will become a supernatural appointment; your pain will become pleasure; your sorrow will become fulfilment. Therefore, anybody who has written you off has made a very big mistake because whatever package that heaven had put together for you shall come to you by force. To be contd
